Reclaim our Land and our Churches
By admin • Sep 30th, 2008 • Category: Feature Story, NewsEVENT: This Sunday, October 5, a Rally at 9 am outside the Carnegie Centre, Main and Hastings, Vancouver, and a Procession to Follow.
The Catholic, Anglican and United Church have been illegally trespassing on Squamish Nation land ever since last March, when a court document issued by hereditary Chief Kiapilano was delivered to these churches, ordering them off Squamish territory.
These churches killed thousands of our children in their “Indian residential schools”, and have refused to return their remains or surrender those responsible for their death. These churches have therefore been banned forever from Squamish land by Siyam Kiapilano, and their buildings declared to be open spaces where the poor will be fed and the homeless given shelter.
We will gather this Sunday to reclaim these buildings, and “Bring to light the hidden works of darkness” that have hidden behind religious corporations. It is time to bring to trial those responsible for the death of our children, in our own traditional courts of law.
This will be a sacred procession, so please bring your drums and songs, your medicine and your stories, and the names of those who have died.
Raise a cry on behalf of the Disappeared Children, and the Living Survivors of the Canadian Genocide!
