The government’s strategy for the rivers are to have so many different proposals coming in from all directions, so many that the public will not know which way to turn. It’s a simple diversion tactic which has been going on now for the last several years throughout all of Canada, the United States, in fact, it’s happening all over the world, not just in BC. They have no regard for the public opinion, simply their agenda which is to make “run-of-the-river projects a part of B.C.’s energy future.

A select few fly-by-night corporations which no one has ever heard of, and will probably never hear of again, will get an approval slipped in when little to no media coverage is visible, simply an announcement of the acquisition of the land rights. These corporations are clearly fronts, or what many would call “consultants” with no proven track records with regards to natural preservation of the surrounding habitat. Simply a project plan to create revenue from what is touted as a “clean energy alternative” with dirty secrets of natural destruction.

This is nothing more than grand theft larceny of natural resources that belong to the original people and all those who survive from it, which is just about everyone. In fact, the way this is being handled could even be classified as an Act of Terrorism. According to the governments own Anti-terrorism Act (Bill C36) Section 83.01(b)(ii)

“…causes serious interference with or serious disruption of an essential service, facility or system, whether public or private, other than as a result of advocacy, protest, dissent or stoppage of work that is not intended to result in the conduct or harm referred to in any of clauses (A) to (C)….”

Putting our rivers in control of private, for-profit corporations would be a serious interference with the natural equilibrium of the earth, the water, the fish, the plants and animals and the people who rely upon this resource to be as it is, unobstructed, untainted and at its natural peak. A system of nature.

No one should control the rivers, and the last damn ones on this earth who should are the corporations. This, without a doubt, is the last run on the rivers. There is a worldwide objective by these corporations to obtain control over the waters by means of hydro-electric dams or “clean energy” solutions because we know no other way. Their claims are to meet the ever growing needs of the populations energy crisis and to combat global warming. The crisis is over-consumption, not a lack of energy. This need can never be met, it must be limited.

So how do we solve it? A few weeks ago I came across a book titled “The Emperor Wears no Clothes“, it is written by Jack Herrer. His book started the hemp revolution and has sold more than 600,000 copies to date. Jack focuses much of his research on investigating the origins of our current state and condition, he has found compelling evidence to support the fact that hemp could actually save the world. The plant could even stop “global warming” if grown on a mass scale. The plants “breathe in” CO2 (carbon dioxide) to build cell structure; the leftover oxygen is breathed out, replenishing the Earth’s air supply.

An independent, semi-rural network of efficient and autonomous farmers should become the key economic player in the production of energy in this country.

Each acre of hemp would yield 1,000 gallons of methanol, or 500 gallons of gasoline. Fuels from hemp, along with the recycling of paper, etc., would be enough to run America virtually without oil.

Why not give jobs back to the pioneers of the land, the farmers. Allow them to grow a sustainable resource which can be cultivated twice a year in most places and year-round in warmer climates. The future of green should actually be green.

With these run-of-river projects nothing more than a select few individuals will profit at the expense of a resource that once damaged will become lost forever. So sensitive is this resource that it could even spell the end of our time.

  1. The privatization of waters has been heavily opposed by many people. Watch the movie the corporation and see how bolivia demonstrated a revolution after corporations came in to control all their natural water, even the water that fell from the sky was owned by these companies.

  2. This to me also relates to plans like the “4 water” project to massively divert Canadian aquafiers into California and the otherwise unsustainable population of the U.S. southwest.
