Letters of Peace
By admin • Mar 7th, 2008 • Category: LettersDear Ms. Irene-Peace: Kiapilano,I was at the public hearing in Mission and very much impressed by Squamish Chief and your speech.I understand that the area the private power company is proposing to steal the water, kill salmon and build the transmission line which will increase access for the motorized recreation is indeed Squamish First Nation’s traditional territory.
I think if both Katzie and Squamish people oppose to the project, the provincial government would not be able to grant permission.
I saw the leadership, dignity and hope in you and the chief that I have never seen in politicians.
Thank you very much for coming all the way to Pitt Meadows and Mission.
I hope Debbie Miller of Katzie First Nation will see that “money cannot be eaten” before too late.
She was leading our fight when there was a threat of gravel mine in Boise Creek of the Upper Pitt a few years ago.
Thank you very much for giving me hope.
Sincerely,
Yukiko Tanaka
Hiyshka for your kind words of support. Our Royal Hereditary Chief
Kiapilano is encouraged by your words of wisdom and willing spirit to
share your passion for protecting Mother Earth/Gaia. We are fighting
many battles including the churches in the name of peace for we are a
peaceful nation and it is only peace that will govern our lands with
the help of the eagle spirit and grizzly bears.
May you be guided by the wind to be loved beyond measure through these
times of change.
In truth with gratitude, Royal Hereditary Chief Kiapilano(TM) of the
Squamish(TM) Nation lands and natural resources
